[Review] Sixt rent a car Iceland

Iceland

For our Iceland Challenge, Sixt Rent a Car generously provided us with a brand new Chevrolet Captiva. We were riding in style in this spacious 7 person vehicle. We only needed to fill four seats and the rest was reserved for the copious amount of gear we brought to supply us for the next week of adventure.

Sixt Iceland offers vehicles for every kind of trip. If you have your heart set on trekking into the wild highlands, they have larger vehicles with 4 x 4 capabilities. Smaller vehicles are available if you are on a strict budget or just want to stick to the Ring Road (Travel & road tips in this blog post). We recommend getting a car with a diesel engine because it has excellent gas mileage for the price. We paid around 50.000 ISK in gas for a 2000 km seven day stopover trip around Ring Road. Granted, we did take a few detours through the mountains in the East, but overall, we had great gas mileage for the size of our car.

The Chevrolet Captiva was an excellent choice for us. It drove smoothly and we had little problems with it. We were able to plug in ipods, phones and even charge our camera batteries—pretty cool added features for a car full of bloggers and photographers.

Sixt Iceland has locations conveniently located right next to the international airport in Keflavík and near the harbor in downtown Reykjavík.

Here are couple of good links from Sixt:

We recommend Sixt for your next trip around Iceland!

Cheers, Inga and Laura
